Quick Tip #1 Press’n Seal

Quick Tip #1 Press’n Seal

First, my hands were covered in glitter and I was pretty sure my face was as well. I had spent hours on glittering a mug, making sure I had not put on too much Modge Podge and letting it dry for the appropriate amount of time between coats. I was determined that this was going to be the best glitter mug in the history of glitter mugs.

Once I knew it was dry and I had successfully removed the electrical tape and the glitter line was still perfect, I went to go seal it with an acrylic high gloss spray. This would make the vase waterproof, ensuring that it would sparkle forever. There was one problem though, the blue painter’s tape I was going to use to protect my masterpiece, would not stick to the mug for anything. What in the world was I going to do now?

So, I may or may not have thrown a hissy fit and yelled a little, or maybe a lot in the process. I know you can relate. You have spent hours on your creation just to be derailed by a little sticky tape or lack thereof actually.

The Ahah Moment

Don’t fret I have the solution for you. I had an Ahah moment. A why didn’t I think of that years ago kind of thing.

These little Ahha moments I have turned into Quick Tips. Little crafting hacks that I wish someone would have shared with me. But fear not, I will share them all with you (as I learn them).

Finally, here for your viewing pleasure is Quick Tip #1 on its maiden voyage.

If you have any Quick Tips that you would like to share please comment below.

About Me

Hi, I’m Azure — welcome to Azure’s Homemade Goodness.

I’ve always been a bit of a serial learner. If I don’t know how to do something, there’s a pretty good chance I’m going to decide I can learn how — which explains why my collection of tools keeps getting bigger and my project list never seems to get any shorter.

Years ago, when my son went off to college and I suddenly found myself an empty nester, I realized I needed something that was *mine* again. I had thrown myself into work, but work wasn’t exactly nourishing my soul. I wanted to create. I wanted to make things. I wanted to build a home and a life that actually felt like *me*.

So I went back to the things I loved.

I cooked. I crafted. I gardened. I tackled home projects. Eventually I wandered into woodworking — and somewhere along the way discovered that I really, really like power tools.

And here’s the thing I learned pretty quickly:

**DIY tutorials leave out a LOT of stuff.**

They’ll tell you to “attach the boards” without telling you which screws to use. They’ll show you a perfectly fitted drawer without mentioning what to do when yours is crooked. And apparently everyone on the internet was born knowing how to square a frame, use a router, choose a saw blade, and fix the thing they just screwed up.

I was not.

So that’s what Azure’s Homemade Goodness is about.

I’m learning, building, fixing, growing, cooking, creating — and sharing the details I wish someone had explained to me before I started.

You don't need to be an expert. You don't need a perfect workshop. And you definitely don't need everything to turn out perfectly the first time.

You just need to be willing to try.

So grab your coffee, your cocktail, or whatever gets you through the project and come hang out with me.

We’ll make some cool stuff, probably make a few mistakes, and create a home and life we love along the way.

And I promise — I’ll tell you the details everyone else skips.

Let’s learn, create, and make a home and life we love along the way.
