Easy DIY Glitter Mug
First, I want to say that this glitter mug is amazing. The pictures do not do it justice and I am finally going to admit it. My name is Azure and I am a teaholic. You can usually find me with some kind of mug in my hand. At work, it is one of those insulated Yeti mugs that keep your drinks either hot or cold forever. At home, I have an eclectic mix of ceramic ware. Right now my favorite is a giant mug that is lavender inside and covered in floral. However, despite being beautiful it says “Savage AF”. I always feel so dominant when I am drinking out of that one, maybe that is why it is my favorite.
Since I have a love for all things that are tea I wanted to make my own tea mugs. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find beautiful mugs with inappropriate saying on them? Or maybe that is not your thing. But regardless I wanted to make my own and not have to scour the internet for something I loved. I find that it is easy to find a plain mug with an unusual shape then it is to find one with sayings that are me. Also, I hate hate hate (yes I know hate is a strong word, that is why I used it three times) the standard looking mug. Most of the specialty mugs are this shape and small. No thank you.
So, I have done my research and with several trials and errors, I have the perfect tutorial for you. The easy DIY Glitter Mug. It is super versatile when it comes to customization, which I feel is extremely important.
These are the materials you will need:
- Plain Mug of Choice (it can be any shape, any color, let it reflect you)
- Isopropyl Alcohol ( this is a must for cleaning the mug)
- Electrical Tape or Printers Tape
- Dry Erase Marker
- Modge Podge (I prefer the gloss version)
- EXTRA FINE Glitter ( I can not stress how important extra fine is)
- 2 Pieces of Printer Paper
- Foam Brushes (several)
- Disposable Bowl or Container
- Acrylic Spray in Gloss
- Cling Wrap or Press & Seal
- Exactor Knife (optional)
- Something for lettering (see Sharpie Paint Markers Mini Review or Easy Vinyl Lettering with the Cricut Joy)
I had originally had written out and numbered the steps but they made the project seem daunting. So here is an easy to follow video tutorial instead.

I know I am late in replying to you Florence, But I think I needed to hear that today. Sometimes life gets in the way of what you love. I think I will start making more videos and blogging. Thank you for the encouragement. Is there anything, in particular, you would like to see?
